MLB picks: Reds vs. Brewers, Marlins vs. Cardinals

Two MLB matchups in the Midwest have caught our attention this Tuesday!

We’ll start with a look at the meeting between the Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers. Then we’ll move on and highlight the matchup between the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cincinnati Reds (33-31) at Milwaukee Brewers (38-28), 8:10 p.m. ET

Two surging offenses and two struggling starters should help Over bettors cash in Tuesday’s meeting between the Reds and the Brewers.

Luis Castillo snapped a seven-start losing streak on June 4, but promptly found his way back to the loss column against Milwaukee last Thursday. The Brew Crew tagged him for three runs in 5 2/3 innings in Cincinnati. Castillo faced the Brewers one other time in 2021, allowing five runs in five innings on May 23.

Bettors should expect Avisail Garcia – 5-for-15 (.333) lifetime against Castillo – to play a major role in Milwaukee’s offense in this spot. The Brewers are averaging 5.33 runs per game this month.

The Reds’ bullpen will offer little relief, as they own a league-worst ERA of 7.68 over the last 14 days.

Brett Anderson responds for Milwaukee, and he’s failed to average even four innings per start over his last six outings. His ERA in that span is 5.64. Anderson faced the Reds twice in this stretch, and he pitched to 6.75 ERA.

Cincinnati has plated double-digit runs in three of their last four contests, so they couldn’t be much hotter at the moment. Nick Castellanos – who is 8-for-21 (.381) lifetime against Anderson – is hitting .360 in June.

Miami Marlins (29-37) at St. Louis Cardinals (33-33), 8:15 p.m. ET

The Cardinals picked up just their second win in an 11-game span when they beat the Marlins 4-2 in Monday’s series opener at Busch Stadium. But Miami appears capable of reversing the result in Game 2.

Trevor Rogers gets the ball for the Fish here, riding a streak of three consecutive quality starts. He’s been the Marlins’ most reliable starter in 2021, going 7-2 with a 2.02 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.

Rogers catches St. Louis at the right time, as Nolan Arenado, Dylan Carlson, and Tommy Edman are all batting below .200 over the last week.

Kwang Hyun Kim counters for the Cardinals, and he’s in the midst of a bad stretch of starts, as he’s lost four straight decisions. His ERA in that span is an inflated 5.82.

Kim must pitch carefully to Starling Marte, who’s hitting .373 in June with three home runs.
