Nationals starter Max Scherzer (10-5, 2.56 ERA) matches up with the Braves' Mike Soroka (11-4, 2.67 ERA) in an encore of Sunday's 9-4 Washington victory. Bettors should expect a similar result at Nationals Park on Friday night.
Soroka is 0-2, with a 3.86 ERA, in four starts against Washington this year. Shortstop Trea Turner and outfielders Juan Soto and Adam Eaton are a combined 12-for-29 (.414) all-time against the Canadian starter.
Scherzer has not been his usual dominant self since the All-Star break, but he still managed to hold the Braves to only one run on Sunday, his first start against them this season. His historical dominance of Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman (7-for-37) and third baseman Josh Donaldson (2-for-12) inspires confidence.

Noah Syndergaard (10-7, 4.06 ERA) has been making headlines by airing his desire to avoid pitching to hot-hitting catcher Wilson Ramos, but manager Mickey Callaway has stated it is "likely" Ramos will start Friday. A potentially poor start for Syndergaard, combined with a possible poor outing from a struggling Clayton Kershaw could help Over bettors cash.
The stats bear out that Syndergaard could use a different catcher, as he owns a 5.09 ERA in 15 starts with Ramos as his batterymate and a 2.22 ERA with all other catchers (13 starts). "Thor" has also struggled to pitch at Citi Field this year, as he's allowed 14 home runs in Queens, compared to five everywhere else.
