2020 World Series: Rays vs. Dodgers World Series Game 2 odds and preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers, and in particular Mookie Betts, got off to a fast start in the 2020 World Series on Tuesday night. The former Red Sox superstar stole two bases and hit a home run en route to a convincing 8-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1.

What does fate have in store for these teams in Game 2 on Wednesday night? Here’s our betting preview.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, 8:08 p.m. ET, FOX

Bettors should expect plenty of runs to be pushed across in Game 2 of the World Series as the Rays send out Blake Snell to take on the Dodgers and Tony Gonsolin.

Snell has been effective but wild this postseason, producing a 3.20 ERA despite allowing 10 walks in just 19 2/3 innings (four starts). L.A.’s lineup showed how patient they could be at the plate in Game 1, as they drew seven walks, six of which were allowed by starter Tyler Glasnow.

"We didn’t do ourselves any favors with the walks," Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters after the loss. "I’d like to see us get back to our strength tomorrow and that’s attacking and getting early strikes and being able to put guys away."

Snell, not surprisingly, has very little history against this National League opponent, but Betts has seen him plenty of times while playing in Boston. Betts has a robust .892 OPS against Snell in 23 prior at-bats.

The Dodgers’ offense has been firing on all cylinders this postseason, averaging 5.92 runs per game, right in line with their regular season-leading 5.82 runs per game.

The Rays’ bats struggled once again in the World Series opener, and they’re now hitting .208 as a team this postseason. However, while they weren’t able to figure out Clayton Kershaw (six innings, one run allowed on two hits and walk, eight strikeouts), Tampa was generating pressure against the latter half of the Dodger bullpen.

Dylan Floro coughed up a pair of runs while tallying just one out before Victor Gonzalez came in and allowed two hits. He was very fortunate to snag a comebacker by Mike Zunino for an inning-ending double play. And that wasn’t even the only "web gem" the Rays were a victim of in Game 1.

With a little better luck in Game 2, Tampa should generate some runs against Tony Gonsolin, who owns a 9.95 ERA in 6 1/3 innings of work this postseason.
