2020 MLB Playoffs: Dodgers vs. Braves, Rays vs. Astros odds and picks

The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to climb back into their NLCS with the Atlanta Braves after falling behind 2-0, while the Tampa Bay Rays will go for the sweep of the Houston Astros on Wednesday night. Here are our betting previews for both contests.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves, 6:05 p.m. ET, FS1

Game 2 of the NLCS featured an offensive explosion – as the Braves emerged with an 8-7 victory over the Dodgers – but both lineups should be held in check today.

Julio Urias, used in relief in his first two appearances of the 2020 postseason, gets the Game 3 nod from manager Dave Roberts, whose hand has been forced due to original Game 2 starter Clayton Kershaw suffering back spasms. However, Urias has pitched eight shutout innings, striking out 11 batters in the process.

The 24-year-old southpaw faces a Braves lineup that was a modest 14th in batting average against lefties in the regular season (.248). Urias took on Atlanta twice in 2019 and recorded two saves over four innings of work while surrendering just one hit.

Kyle Wright counters for the Braves. He was a forgettable 2-4 with a 5.21 ERA in the regular season, but twirled a gem in his lone 2020 playoff start to date, fanning seven Marlins over six shutout innings.

Wright is backed by an Atlanta bullpen that, until last night, was practically untouchable in the postseason, producing a 0.39 ERA.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Houston Astros, 8:40 p.m. ET, TBS

The Rays, up three games to none in this ALCS, have to be licking their chops as they see Zack Greinke will be the Astros’ Game 4 starter on Wednesday night. Bettors should be all over Tampa as modest moneyline favorites.

After stumbling down the stretch and producing two uneven postseason starts, Greinke is back on the hill for Houston, trying to avoid elimination. Few would accuse the 36-year-old veteran of "rising to the occasion" in his major-league career, as Greinke sports a 3-6 record with a 4.29 ERA in postseason play (100 2/3 innings). He’ll have to pitch carefully to Rays outfielder Manuel Margot, who’s 7-for-16 (.438) all-time against Greinke with two home runs. He’s already homered once in this series.

Tyler Glasnow, last seen throwing 2 1/3 scoreless innings on two days’ rest in Game 5 of the ALDS, counters for Tampa. Bettors should not expect him to pitch too deep into this tilt, as Kevin Cash is wont to use his trusty bullpen, which lowered its ERA this postseason to 2.91 after suffocating the ‘Stros in Game 3.
