2020 MLB Playoffs: Astros vs. A’s, Yankees vs. Rays odds & picks
The Divisional Round of the 2020 MLB Postseason will be in full swing on Tuesday with all eight remaining teams in action. We’ll preview Game 2 of the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics series as well as the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays series, looking for the best available bets in each contest.
Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics, 4:37 p.m. ET, TBS
The Astros outslugged the A’s in the mini Home Run Derby that broke out in Game 1 of their ALDS on Monday, winning 10-5 on the strength of two Carlos Correa longballs. They appear to have the pitching advantage in Game 2 and could very well sweep the first two games of this best-of-five as the designated road team at Dodger Stadium.

Sean Manaea (4-3, 4.50 ERA) starts for Oakland, and while he improved in September (2-1, 3.04 ERA, 0.93 WHIP in four starts), he could get into trouble in this one. Several Houston batsmen have excelled against Manaea in the past, including outfielder George Springer (11-for-34) and third baseman Alex Bregman (6-for-23 with three homers). Once Manaea is removed, A’s manager Bob Melvin will have to turn to a bullpen that’s struggled so far this postseason, producing a 4.05 ERA while pitching the second-most innings of any playoff team thus far (20).
Framber Valdez, who pitched five scoreless innings against the Twins in Game 1 of the Wild Card series, gets the call for Houston here. He tossed seven innings of one-run ball against Oakland earlier this year. The Astros’ bullpen has yet to allow a run in 14 2/3 innings of work this postseason.
MLB pick: Astros moneyline
New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays, 8:07 p.m. ET, TBS
Yankees manager Aaron Boone appears to be giving the Rays a lifeline in this ALDS following New York’s decisive Game 1 victory, as he tabbed rookie Deivi Garcia, who had a 6.04 ERA in five September outings, to start Game 2 on Tuesday night at Petco Park. Bettors should jump on Tyler Glasnow and Tampa Bay here.

Glasnow was effective in his last two starts against the Bombers this season, surrendering just two earned runs over 11 2/3 innings. He also produced a quality start against the Blue Jays in the Wild Card round on Wednesday (six innings, two earned runs allowed). He’s backed by a Tampa bullpen that was one of the best in baseball throughout the season.
MLB pick: Rays moneyline
