RBC Canadian Open: Mount up at Hamilton Golf and Country Club
As a prelude to next week’s U.S. Open, the RBC Canadian Open will again host quite the preeminent field. The proverbial “regulars” will strut in prepared, but who will come out on top on Sunday?
Dustin Johnson (+600) is the RBC Canadian Open defending champ and, as of late, has been playing as if he has ice-cold Molson flowing through his veins. Thus, it makes sense that the man with saloon swagger is one of this year’s favorites.
Then there is the other half of the bash bros, Brooks “Bring Home the Bacon” Koepka (+650). Between his recent historic PGA Championship victory at Bethpage Black and clear disposition of always showing up to an “Open” party, it’s quite certain that he will be in the maple mix on Sunday.
Scott Piercy (+2800) would seem more like a reach to catch the swinging bar door, but should be worth the stretch. The Las Vegas native hoisted the Canadian Open trophy in 2012—the last time the tournament was held at Hamilton Golf and Country Club.
Whether it be on the course this weekend, or singing karaoke at the nearby Brassie Pub, all of the aforementioned players will be fun to watch. And as the sun sets at Hamilton Golf and C.C., my glass jar of Canadian dollars will be riding in Dustin Johnson’s satchel.

Peel back the cushions, sift through the stale French fries and scoop together enough coin to take a chance on two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson (+4000). Much like the bash bros, Bubba is a bomber who can grow chest hair thick enough to rival any of the local lumberjacks. Just ask Phil Mickelson, and he will undoubtedly regale you with a description of Bubba’s impressive pelage, and his own bombing ability. But with two top-five finishes this season thus far (Valspar Championship, Waste Management Phoenix Open), a 40-year-old Bubba continues to prove he has the firepower and is capable of flag-hunting in Ontario.Whether it be on the course this weekend, or singing karaoke at the nearby Brassie Pub, all of the aforementioned players will be fun to watch.
