Golf’s top players descend upon  TPC-Sawgrass for this week’s THE PLAYERS Championship.

McIlroy’s already earned over $2.33 million this year. He’s earned that much on the Tour while failing to win a single tournament. How? Outside of an awful fifty-fourth place finish in the WGC-HSBC Champions in late October, he’s finished in the top-10 in 5 straight.

Rory even finished sixth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in his last PGA event. He’s sitting on the cusp of a victory. Although he missed the cut at last year’s THE PLAYERS Championship, we should expect McIlroy to bring his “A” game this week.

Others among the favorites can win this, but Rory’s been the most consistent so far this PGA Season. He’s go the best shot and qualifies for backing since he offers odds above +1000.

 Lots of quality golfers offer odds of +2000 to +4000. Xander Schauffele’s playing well enough to where if you like him, you should back him. Schauffele won the Sentry Tournament of Champions and he’s finished in the top 20 in every tournament played since. He also finished tied for second at -14, 4 strokes off winner Webb Simpson, at the 2018 The Players Championship.

But, Schauffele might not be the best play among these golfers. Tiger said that he’s over the neck strain that kept him from playing at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Woods strained his neck at the Genesis Open. Taking a week off appears to have done the trick.

Tiger finished 7 strokes off Simpson at last year’s TPC, which isn’t too far off. Woods should be on his game this week. If he is, the old Tiger could roar. He remains the most fun bet, if not also the most risky given his injury issues.

 It’s hard to back defending champion Webb Simpson because he’s not striking the ball well. Simpson was good for a thirty-ninth place finish at the WGC-Mexico. He followed that up with a thirty-sixth place finish at The Honda Classic.

Simpson’s not striking the ball well, but Rafael Cabrera Bello is. Bello’s back to his best form after shooting a -3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in his last. Bello had a tough round 2 at the Arnold Palmer, but the 65 he shot in round 1 and 69 round 4 made up for the 75 round 2.

If Bello finds more consistency with his swing, he could be in position for a win on Sunday. He shot a -10 at the 2018 THE PLAYERS Championship and deserves a long look at the nice +5400 odds.
