The 2019 Formula 1 French Grand Prix takes place Sunday. Here are the most intriguing betting markets for the race.
Winner
Lewis Hamilton, last year's winner, is a big favorite to win the race at -130. He has won his last three races and five of his last seven. If F1 handicappers are looking to go with an underdog, they should consider second choice Valtteri Bottas (+145). Bottas finished second behind Hamilton in France last year and is the only other driver who has won races in 2019. His two wins were the Australian Grand Prix and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Fastest lap
It doesn't sound right that Hamilton isn't favored to drive the fastest lap. The chalk to win the race offers odds of +400 to drive the fastest lap. The driver offering the lowest odds to drive the fastest lap is Pierre Gasly at +285. Although Gasly could definitely help you win this prop, the odds on Bottas (+390) and Hamilton are much better.
Podium position
The top three finishers gain a podium position. Hamilton offers -700 odds, Bottas -400 and Sebastian Vettel -200. Every other driver offers more than even money. Max Verstappen finished fourth in last year's race, and at +200 might be the best value play
Top six
The odds are low, but all four drivers offering -500 or worse odds should finish in the top six. Those drivers are Hamilton (-900), Vettel (-700), Bottas (-800) and Charles Leclerc (-500). Choose one and go for the easy money.
Winning team
Because Hamilton and Bottas drive for Mercedes, the German car maker is at -600 to be the team that wins in France. Second choice is Ferrari at +350. If you believe Vettel or Leclerc will upset, Ferrari would be the play.
