Miami Hurricanes Info

The program began in 1926 and has won five AP national championships (1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, 2001).  The Miami Hurricanes are among the most storied and decorated football programs in NCAA history. Miami is ranked fourth on the list of All-time Associated Press National Poll Championships, tied with Southern California and Ohio State and behind Alabama, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma.

There's no question that the Miami Hurricanes are one of the most highly regarded programs in college football history. Their most well known era unfolded during head coach Jimmie Johnson's tenure between 1984 to 1988. The team won two national titles during that time and established themselves as the "bad boys" of college football, carrying that momentum through two more decades which saw them win yet another title with Larry Coker in 2001. Their run under Jimmie Johnson was so impactful that it commanded a two-part documentary by ESPN under the 30 for 30 banner.

Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees from the Miami Hurricanes include Ted Hendricks, Michael Irvin, Jim Kelly, Cortez Kennedy, Ray Lewis, Jim Otto and Warren Sapp. Other notable players include Dan Morgan, Gino Torrettta, Vinny Tesaverde, Ken Dorsey, Steve Walsh, Kellen Winslow II, Ed Reed, Jeremy Shockey, Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, Ken Dorsey and Vince Wilfork. This is excessively storied program.

Miami also owns significant records related to the NFL Draft. They have the most first round selections in a single draft with 6 players being selected in 2004's opening round. They also produced in a first round pick in 14 consecutive drafts dating from 1995 to 2008. They also produced the most first round selections in four consecutive years from 2001-2004.

The 2017 Miami Hurricanes went on to win their division and went 10-3 SU and 5-8 ATS overall. They lost the ACC Championship game to Clemson in a lopsided affair with a final score of 3-38. They then lost the 2017 Orange Bowl to Wisconsin 24-34.

Conference Championships: 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003
