The race is over; Joe Burrow has earned the Heisman Trophy
Each passing college football season seems to go faster than the last. We are already to Week 13, which means there are only two weeks of regular season left before conference championship weekend and the culmination of a fall's worth of drama. While there is still plenty of drama remaining, the suspense over who will receive the Heisman Trophy is certainly over.
Joe Burrow will be the 2019 Heisman winner
Congratulations to quarterback Joe Burrow, who has rewritten the LSU record books and redefined an entire program's identity. Ohio State QB Justin Fields leads the No. 1 offense in the country and Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts used a massive second-half comeback against Baylor to keep himself on the invite list to New York, but any wagers on those two longshot stars would be wasting money.30/42 Comp/Att

While both Fields and Hurts have had Heisman-quality campaigns, and in other years would very likely win the award, 2019 has belonged to Burrow. At this point Burrow would have to commit a criminal offense (or rip the helmet off a player and hit him in the head with it) to not get the award.
Fields is playing on the college football equivalent of Space Jam's Monstars, and Hurts has excelled in a system that has produced consistent offensive excellence.

Burrow has meant everything to LSU
For Burrow, however, there is no doubt he has initiated a full-out offensive revolution in the Bayou. Burrow is completing an incredible 78.3% of his passes, the highest percentage in college football history (Colt McCoy's 76.7% rate in 2008 ranks second). LSU is averaging 13.4 points per game more than it did just one year ago, and 20 points per game more than it did two years ago. The rapid and dramatic rise from Alabama's division inferior to national championship contender is in large part a result of Burrow's incredibly efficiency and skill set. He is talented, poised and a leader, and has proven it time and again on the sport's biggest stage.Joe Burrow ➡️ Ja'Marr Chase
