NCAAF: Wisconsin falls from the ranks of the unbeaten
Entering Week 8 of the college football season, it seemed like the only key games were Michigan at Penn State and Oregon at Washington. While those two games didn't disappoint, there were a few shocking developments that will have a lasting impact this season. Here's what we learned from Week 8.
Trailing by nine points with less than 10 minutes to play, Illinois rallied with a touchdown and a field goal as time expired to upset the Badgers, 24-23. In its first six games, Wisconsin had let up less than 30 points combined, but Illinois flipped the script, and coach Lovie Smith earned a signature victory.
Wisconsin takes a fall
"That's why they play the game." There is a reason why that expression exists. When Wisconsin traveled to face Illinois on Saturday as a 30-point favorite, almost no one gave them a shot. But that's why they play the game!Trailing by nine points with less than 10 minutes to play, Illinois rallied with a touchdown and a field goal as time expired to upset the Badgers, 24-23. Penn State survives Michigan
Whiteout conditions blanketed Happy Valley on Saturday, and Penn State rewarded its fans with a fourth-quarter defensive stop to preserve a 28-21 victory.Michigan's Big Ten title dreams are gone and where head coach Jim Harbaugh ends up after this season is a mystery. Will he stay or will he go?
Penn State is still alive and is one of seven teams I believe have a chance at the College Football Playoff.
Oregon outlasts Washington
Oregon went into a hostile environment at Washington and overcame a 28-14 third-quarter deficit to stun the Huskies in front of a sold-out crowdOregon quarterback Justin Herbert and Washington QB Jacob Eason were mirror images—both threw for multiple touchdowns and for nearly 300 yards apiece—but it was Herbert who got the glory.

Oregon's only loss came in Week 1, on a neutral field against Auburn, so if the Ducks continue to roll through the Pac-12, they might find themselves in the College Football Playoff.
LSU rolls, but challenges loom
LSU cruised on the road to defeat Mississippi State 36-13 and didn't have too much to worry about from the start. The Tigers' minds won't be at ease long, as Auburn will come to town this week. Then comes a bye week and a trip to Alabama, which could decide who makes it to the SEC Championship Game.Tua is injured, but for how long ?
If LSU defeats Auburn this week, the Nov. 9 matchup with Alabama will be all the rage. The Tide took down Tennessee last week, 35-13, but the lasting story was that starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa injured his ankle and will miss at least a week or two. His absence likely won't make much of a difference against overmatched Arkansas this week, and he'll get a bye week to rest after that, but can he be at 100% against LSU?
