NCAAF Week 9 upset watch: Kansas State will win at West Virginia
Week 8 of the college football season saw multiple upsets, and Week 9 presents more opportunities for bettors to cash in.
Let’s look for a big moneyline payday!
#16 Kansas State vs. West Virginia
Kansas State comes into the game ranked and sits at 4-1, with four straight wins, off an upset loss to Arkansas State.
The Wildcats decimated rival Kansas, 55-14, last week, and have outscored their last three opponents 107-49. Three of their touchdowns last week came from special teams and defense.

However, the Wildcats have lost four straight to the Mountaineers, including a four-point defeat last season in Manhattan.
The West Virginia defense is very good. It allows just 3.1 yards per carry and less than 265 yards of offense per game.
The Mountaineers enter off a 34-27 defeat to Texas Tech, but the Mountaineers did not play as well against Kansas as the Wildcats did. The Red Raiders proved they can be run on, with 179 yards rushing on 39 carries.
If Kansas State can improve a bit offensively, it should be able to pull off the upset.
Memphis vs. #9 Cincinnati
The Bearcats came away with a massive win last weekend against SMU. Now they are the hunted team, as a powerful Memphis offense will roll into town looking to spoil their hopes of crashing the College Football Playoff.
While its offense has had issues, Cincinnati’s defense is outstanding. I has allowed just more than 300 yards per game and only 12.5 points per contest. They Bearcats have allowed 13 points or fewer in three of their four games this year.
31 second-half points helped propel @MemphisFB past Temple and improve to 3-1 on the season. @BradyWhite223 had another big game, throwing for 313 yards and four more touchdowns, while Austin Calvin added 184 receiving yards with one touchdown. #AmericanPow6r pic.twitter.com/maHgFhFJg1

They haven’t faced an offense like Memphis, which is what might cause them some issues. The Tigers have scored at least 27 points in every game and have racked up 91 points over their last two wins. They average nearly 550 yards of offense per game, including 344 through the air.
While Cincinnati should win, if its defense allows the Tigers to stay in the game, there could be an upset on the cards.
#20 Coastal Carolina vs. Georgia State
Coastal Carolina continues to hang around the top 25, and at 5-0 it is starting to gain attention.
The Chanticleers' offensive numbers have been impressive. Their balanced attack averages more than 230 yards through the air and nearly 190 on the ground. Quarterback Fred Payton had to step in last week to replace injured starter Grayson McCall and will likely start this week.
This week’s test is tougher, though, as Georgia State’s offense is better than what Georgia Southern threw at Coastal last week. The Panthers average 42 points per game and rush for 237 yards per game, in addition to 229 through the air. This will put more pressure on the Chanticleers to maintain drives and score points to match the home team.
If Payton is not able to handle that pressure, the clock could strike midnight for this Cinderella story.
Northwestern vs. Iowa
Iowa was defeated, 24-20, last weekend by Purdue, in a game where they allowed nearly 400 yards of offense to the Boilermakers.
The Hawkeyes outgained Purdue by almost 80 yards, but 10 penalties for 100 yards played a key role in their defeat. They also fumbled twice to end critical drives and blew a 20-14 lead in the fourth quarter.

Northwestern destroyed Maryland, 43-3, last weekend. While the Terrapins are likely the worst team in the Big Ten, Northwestern’s rushing attack was most impressive, with 325 yards on 53 carries.
They Wildcats also forced four turnovers on defense and took care of the ball on the offensive side. If they can replicate what Purdue’s offense did last week (the Boilermakers gained nearly 200 yards on the ground), Northwestern should control the game and move to 2-0 on the season.
