NCAAF Week 10 Upset Watch: Notre Dame will defeat Clemson
We are moving into the later stages of the 2020 college football season, and we have had big upsets nearly every week. With this crazy season getting into crunch time, it’s becoming a bit easier to see potential for big moneyline wins.
Let’s break down the four games most likely to provide you with a solid return on your underdog investment in this week’s Upset Watch!
West Virginia vs. #22 Texas
The Texas Longhorns jumped back into the polls with an upset overtime victory over Oklahoma State last weekend.
While it was a huge win for the Longhorns, the score doesn't tell the story of how the game played out. Oklahoma State committed four turnovers, which helped to offset a 530-287 advantage in total yards. Texas gained just 4.8 yards per pass and ran for only 3 yards per carry against a solid Cowboys defense.
The defense they will face this weekend is solid, as West Virginia showed when it knocked off No. 16 Kansas State last weekend.
The Mountaineers dominated the first half and held the Wildcats to just 225 yards of total offense. They forced three turnovers, took one in for a score, and they tend to take care of the football on the offensive side. They average nearly 300 yards passing, as well, and should be able to move the ball just as well as Oklahoma State.

A mistake leads to points. Chabastin Taylor doesn't secure the catch, it goes over his shoulder and into the hands of Dylan Tonkery. That's going the other way for a pick-6. #KStateFB pic.twitter.com/zuTDBms7DE
It’s unlikely West Virginia will give Texas the gifts the Longhorns received last week. Look for the Mountaineers to do what Oklahoma State did offensively, except for the turnovers, and come away with a big win over the Longhorns.
#8 Florida vs. #5 Georgia
Last weekend, Kentucky, a poor offensive team, gave Georgia a game. The Wildcats had that chance, because the Bulldogs offense was just as bad. After an opening drive where Georgia went 12 plays and 86 yards without a pass attempt, the Bulldogs managed just 240 yards the rest of the game, and 75 came on their opening drive of the second half, their only other scoring drive.
Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett played poorly, and he threw just 13 times for 131 yards. Two of those passes were intercepted, and Kentucky defenders had their hands on another throw, as well. Over his last two games, Bennett has completed just 27 of his 53 attempts and has thrown five interceptions. His poor play has hamstrung a team that is playing well at nearly every other position.

Enter the Gators, whose offense is extremely talented and will push the tempo to turn this into a high-scoring game. While Florida’s defense isn’t the best, it should be able to replicate what Kentucky did last weekend and give Bennett problems.
Quarterback Kyle Trask is coming off a great performance last week against Missouri, and while Georgia’s defense is much better, it has some serious injuries. Look for Florida to be in this one at the end, and likely win for the first time in four meetings.
#14 Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State
Oklahoma State is coming off an upset loss to Texas, where the Cowboys turned the ball over four times and put up more than 500 yards of offense. This week, they play a Kansas State team that allows 163 yards per game on the ground.
If Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy is smart, he'' feed running back Chuba Hubbard all game long and go home with a win.
How important are turnovers? Well let's review where Oklahoma State beat Texas today...
— Josh Pate (@LateKickJosh) November 1, 2020
✅YDS: 530-287
✅1D: 32-17
✅Yds Per Play: 5.8-3.8
✅Pass Yds: 400-169
✅Penalty Yds: 70-142
❌Turnovers: 0-4
Final: Texas 41 OkState 34
If Gundy doesn't deploy that plan, he could give Kansas State a shot to stay in the game.
Kansas State will be looking to rebound from an embarrassing loss to West Virginia last week, but the Wildcats will need to perform much better offensively. If Oklahoma State gives them short fields with turnovers, it could be enough to keep this one closer than expected.
#1 Clemson vs. #4 Notre Dame
We all found out just how important Trevor Lawrence was to Clemson when he missed last week's game against Boston College.
While many expected the Tigers to struggle a bit, nobody anticipated a 28-10 Boston College lead with a minute to go in the first half. Thankfully, their defense stepped up in the second half to hold the Golden Eagles scoreless, and they roared back for a 34-28 win.
Clemson @ Notre Dame has huge National Title game implications.

In D.J. Uiagalelei's 2nd ever college start, he will face a completely different defense in Notre Dame's multiplicity and confusion than he he did against Boston College's simplicity and execution.

They won't be able to get out of that kind of hole this weekend in South Bend.
Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei will find things much tougher on the road. The defense he will face is also much more complex and has allowed an average of just 173.5 yards passing per game and fewer than 100 yards on the ground. The Fighting Irish have allowed just 16 points over their last three games, and it will be tough sledding for the visitors.
If Clemson’s second-half defense shows up, the Tigers will be in great shape. If the first-half defense from last week shows up, Notre Dame will march to victory.
