NCAAF: LSU at Alabama is shaping up to be the game of the year
With most of the top teams off this past weekend, there wasn’t a lot of significant news coming out of college football. We did see a big-name coach get canned, however, and we have some brilliant matchups to talk about for the upcoming Saturday. Exciting times are ahead! Unless you are Willie Taggart.
Taggart took over for Jimbo Fisher, who left town for Texas A&M. However, in Taggart's short time with the team, things never got right. His reign ends with a record of 9-12 and the scorn of many FSU fans. We can’t feel too bad. His buyout was $18 Million!
Expect Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to be healthy and back in action this weekend after a single missed start and a bye week.
Penn State needs to win this game to remain tied with Ohio State atop the Big Ten East standings. Losing just one conference game could affect who heads to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship Game. One could argue that Penn State has more to lose than the Gophers.
The Gophers would all but wrap up a trip to the Big Ten Championship with a win here, but even with a loss, the season isn’t over. A loss would setup a final-week meeting with Wisconsin with a winner-take-the-Big Ten East reward.
It’s going to be a great weekend!
The Willie Taggart Era is over at Florida State
Florida State athletic director David Coburn didn’t need to wait until the end of the season to cut ties with head coach Willie Taggart. After a 27-10 loss to the Miami Hurricanes, FSU’s main rival, the top brass had seen enough. Taggart was fired after only 21 games at the helm of the program.Taggart took over for Jimbo Fisher, who left town for Texas A&M. #1 LSU at #2 Alabama: Game of the year
The stage is set for Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as the No. 1 LSU Tigers come to town to face the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide. The winner of this game will undoubtedly win the SEC West and go on to face Georgia in the SEC Championship. Beyond that many are stating that this is a virtual playoff game—the winner being the only team from the SEC West who will be able to make the College Football Playoff. We believe there are still ways both teams make the Playoff no matter what happens. We will outline those theories later this week in our College Football Playoff doomsday scenario article.Expect Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to be healthy and back in action this weekend after a single missed start and a bye week.
#5 Penn State at #13 Minnesota is the Saturday undercard

There are a boatload of things at play in this game for both teams.Penn State needs to win this game to remain tied with Ohio State atop the Big Ten East standings.
