NCAAF College Football Rankings Week 13 Update
There are no changes at the top of the College Football Rankings heading into Thanksgiving and Week 13. The top-8 teams all won in Week 12, but No. 9 West Virginia couldn’t hold a ten-point fourth quarter lead, and un-ranked Oklahoma State rallied for a late touchdown to win 45-41 and knock the Mountaineers out of the CFP playoff chase.
Also, No. 10 Ohio Stare barely stayed alive with a 52-51 overtime win over Maryland when the Terrapins scored a touchdown and elected to go for the win but just missed the 2-point conversion. Ohio State escaped after manufacturing a last-minute scoring drive and then scored a touchdown in overtime before holding on against Maryland.
The final pairings for the College Football Playoff will be announced Dec. 2.
The current college football rankings display clearly who's in the running for a playoff spot:
Michigan (-4) at Ohio State – Winner advances to the Big Ten Championship game against Northwestern.
Oklahoma (-1) at West Virginia – Winner advances to the Big 12 Championship game to play Texas if the Longhorns beat Kansas. Oklahoma is eliminated from the CFP Playoff chase with a loss.
Washington at Washington State (-3) – Winner takes the Pac-12 North and advances to the Pac-12 Championship game against Utah.
Auburn at Alabama (-24.5) – Another huge rivalry game in the Iron Bowl. Alabama has already secured the SEC West title and will play Georgia in the SEC Championship.
Notre Dame (-10.5) at USC – A victory by Notre Dame secures their spot in the CFB Playoff.
Georgia Tech at Georgia (-17) – Rivalry game must go Georgia’s way to have a shot to make the CFB Playoff with a win over Alabama in the SEC Championship.
Eight teams outside of the Power 5 conference have at least 9 victories, and two of those teams are in solid position to secure a New Year’s Six Bowl bid – Central Florida (UCF) and Utah State.
However, Utah State must beat Boise State (-3) this week in a big Mountain West showdown, and the winner advances to the MWC Championship game against Fresno State.
