Friday's College Football Week 13 Picks Highlighted By Pac-12 Showdown

I'm here to help guide you through your Thanksgiving hangovers with some juicy College Football Week 13 picks for Friday's immense slate of games. 

Instead of Black Friday, we could call it Big 12 Friday. On Nov. 23, the top 3 teams in the 10-team Big 12 Conference are in action. Texas can stamp their ticket to the conference championship in Week 14 with a victory over lowly Kansas no matter what happens in Oklahoma at West Virginia.

The other massively important game analyzed below has pre-season Pac 12 favorite Washington battling College Football Playoff on the cusp Washington State. Whomever wins that matchup wins the Pac 12 North Division.

Friday, Nov. 23

#17 Houston Cougars at Memphis Tigers -7

Although I didn’t mention it in the intro, whomever takes this battle marches into the AAC Championship. Houston was the better team all season long, but the Tigers are tough at home, going 5-1 ATS this season. Memphis will use that home advantage to win and cover.

College Football Week 13 Picks: Memphis -7

Central Michigan Chippewas at Toledo Rockets -18.5

Central Michigan has had decent seasons in this past. This hasn’t been one of them with the Chippewas falling to 1-10 SU after Kent State beat them in Week 12. Because CMU is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 and Toledo is 3-1 ATS in their last 4, the Rockets are the play.

College Football Week 13 Picks: Toledo -18.5

#17 Texas Longhorns -15 at Kansas Jayhawks

Texas has no excuses battling a team that’s 3-8 SU. But, the trends favor Kansas in this matchup:  4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after an SU loss, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 in November, and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 after allowing more than 450 yards in their previous. Texas should beat Kansas, but that is a lot of points to leave on the table.

Arkansas Razorbacks at Missouri Tigers -23

Mizzou hosts Arkansas on Friday having gone 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS. The home team is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings while Missouri is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 at home. This is a ton of points, though. Missouri should win without blinking, but Arkansas is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 after an SU loss. I’m torn. When I’m torn, I like to take the points. A backdoor cover is very possible.

East Carolina Pirates at #24 Cincinnati Bearcats -19.5

The Pirates are overmatched in this one. Cincinnati might be heading in to this game following a stinging blowout loss to UCF, but Eastern Carolina is 3-11 ATS in their last 14 on the road. The Bearcats are 4-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Cincinnati is also is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 after accumulating less than 170 passing yards, proving that they often bounce back after tough games.

#22 Virginia Cavaliers -3.5 at Virginia Tech Hokies

This is a classic follow-the-trends matchup. Overall this season, Virginia’s been better than Virginia Tech. However, the Hokies step it up at home and this is a rivalry contest. The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The favorite is 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings, but how many times were the Virginia Cavaliers favored in the matchup? Not many.

Check out a couple of truly telling trends:  the Cavaliers are 4-10 ATS in the last 14 and 2-6 ATS in the last 8 at Virginia Tech. Although Virginia’s played much better lately, Virginia Tech gets my money.

Oregon Ducks -16.5 at Oregon State Beavers

Dubbed the Civil War, Oregon versus Oregon State has become one of the most entertaining rivalry games in college football. Most stats tell us Oregon State should have no shot. The Beavers are 1-4 ATS at home while going a horrible 2-9 SU. Oregon State allows close to 45 points per from close to 540 yards per. The Ducks are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16, though. I almost can’t believe I’m writing this, but I’m backing the Beavers.

#18 Washington Huskies at #8 Washington State Cougars -3

By a 7-to-1 margin, college football handicappers prefer to lay the points in the most important game in the Pac 12 this week. Washington almost never covers spreads. The Huskies are 2-9 ATS this season and 1-4 ATS in away games. However, I still believe Washington’s the team to back. The Huskies have been favored often by double-digits in most games this season. When it comes to the head-to-head, they own the Cougars:  4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings and 7-2 ATS in the last 9 at Washington State. If you’re playing parlays, take the points. I’m taking a shot on the Huskies to win straight up. They are much more competitive than their betting trends suggest.
