Fairway’s Forecast - Week 3 SEC Betting
by Fairway Jay
Big game betting begins Saturday, Sept. 15 as Week 3 SEC betting continues in college football. Here are some of the top SEC teams drawing the most interest. Best of luck!#1 Alabama Crimson Tide-20.5 at Mississippi Rebels (69.0) (7:00 ET on ESPN)
Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke watched his Rebels get rolled by the Tide 66-3 in his SEC head coaching debut last season. The Rebels are going to give up plenty of points in this rivalry redemption rematch that finds Mississippi still over-matched. The Rebels are allowing 34 points per game (PPG) and 558 yards per game (YPG) through two contests against Texas Tech and So. Illinois. Alabama’s offense is in high gear averaging scoring 57 and 51 points in its first two games and averaging 559 YPG against Louisville and Arkansas State. Luke has revved up the Rebels offense that features a top wide receiving corp. Ole Miss has scored 62 PPG and nearly 600 YPG in two games (2 defensive scores last week), and the combination of these two offenses and a suspect Ole Miss defense has driven this total up a full 7 points from the opener. Alabama’s defense is still top notch and reloaded in the secondary. I won’t lay more than 3 TD’s on the conference road, but do project plenty of scoring.
Week 3 SEC Betting – OVER 69.0
#13 LSU Tigers at #5 Auburn Tigers -10.0 (45.0) (3:30 ET on CBS)
Marquee matchup features a pair of Tigers that have both started 2-0. The last two meetings have been decided by 4 and 5 points, but Auburn was a ticked off Tiger after blowing a 20-0 lead last year in Baton Rouge in a 27-23 defeat as a 7-point favorite. Auburn is 7-1-1 ATS with conference revenge, and QB Jarrett Stidham will play much better after last year’s poor performance against LSU. Top pass rushing linebacker K’lavon Chaisson is out for LSU due to injury and offensive guard Ed Ingram is suspended. Both defenses allowing just 74 rushing YPG through two contests, but Auburn’s balanced offense is superior rushing for 288 YPG and nearly 500 YPG total offense. Low total suggests winning by double-digits could be tough, but what will be tougher is for LSU to move the ball and score points against a stronger Auburn defense with transfer QB Joe Burrow completing less than 50% of his passes and less than 150 passing YPG.
Week 3 SEC Betting– Auburn -10
UL Monroe Warhawks vs. Texas A&M Aggies -27.5 (68.0) (7:30 ET on SEC Network)
Big ‘Dog call to cover on UL Monroe, who gets A&M in a terrible scheduling situation and big letdown and look ahead spot. The Aggies suffered a tough loss last week 28-26 against #2 Clemson, and A&M has a huge game at #1 Alabama next week. Texas A&M also struggled to run the ball last week gaining less than 70 yards, and while they will score more this week, the intensity level and focus will still be lacking. UL Monroe is improved on defense following three terrible seasons of deficient defenses. The Warhawks are also capable and more experienced on offense and made strides last year scoring 34 PPG. Off an upset win at Southern Miss, take the big ugly dog as your SEC situational and letdown play of the week.
Week 3 SEC Betting – UL Monroe +27.5
