In the Southeastern Conference, every game matters. This is a statement validated by television contracts, attendance numbers and betting handle.

For those who follow the league closely, rivalries and history can sometimes fog the perspective on where teams stand in relation to others. But before the madness and chaos of the season begins, a preseason look at regular season win totals will give us a good reference point to consider what to expect for the upcoming season.

Alabama Over/Under 11

The breadwinner of the conference isn't expected to slip up more than once, which isn't that unrealistic of an expectation. The Crimson Tide is stacked, as always, and should be favored in every regular-season game.

This is a program that has spent 20 years trying to reclaim glory. The Volunteers finally have a quarterback and coach who can get things going in the right direction.

Vanderbilt Over/Under 5

A program that has yet to record a winning season with Derek Mason as head coach now loses their all-time passing leader and three starters on the offensive line.

Florida Over/Under 9

Many think this is a program on the rise again, as the Gators seem to have things headed in a positive direction with Dan Mullen leading the way. But the play here is the Under. Despite a lifetime of dominance against Kentucky, Mark Stoops is improving things in Lexington. Tennessee is also getting better, and Georgia is already well ahead of Florida in terms of overall talent level. Miami, Auburn and LSU are all tough, and South Carolina on the road is never an easy game for the Gators. After all that they get to end their brutal SEC season with a road game at Missouri and then get rival Florida State. This schedule almost guarantees an elite team two losses, and for a slightly above-average one it seems four or five is inevitable.
