College Football Week 8 Picks - Ten Huge Games On Tap!
This weekend brings a buffet of intense NCAAF matchups that are sure to help setup a great homestretch for the end of the season. Check out my ten favorite college football Week 8 picks below!
Saturday, Oct. 20
#10 Oklahoma Sooners -7.5 at TCU Horned Frogs Sooners haven’t played since a 45-48 loss to Texas on Oct. 6. No strong trends exist about how well Oklahoma plays after a bye. TCU is 1-3 ATS at home, and has gone 0-3 ATS in their last 3, making Sooners the play.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Oklahoma -7.5
Auburn Tigers -4 at Ole Miss Rebels It’s hard to back Auburn after their 24-30 loss at home to Tennessee in Week 6. But, Auburn’s got a hot trend, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 after accumulating more than 280 passing yards, while Ole Miss has none. Tigers bounce back with a win and cover.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Auburn -4
#7 Michigan Wolverines -7 at Michigan State Spartans Both Wolverines and Spartans coming off of huge wins, barreling in to one of the great rivalry games in college sports. Head-to-head trends point to Spartans covering, Wolverines are 1-10 ATS in last 11 meetings and 0-5 in last 5 at Michigan State. I’m not going against those strong trends. MSU will wake up for this game.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Michigan State +7
#15 NC State Wolfpack at #3 Clemson Tigers -16.5 Although most handicappers like NC State at +16.5, it’s hard for me to back the Wolfpack because they’re only 3-2 against the spread versus suspect competition. However, NC State is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings, the road team is 13-5 in the last 18, and Wolfpack is 6-2 in the last 8.
College Football Week 8 Picks: NC State +16.5
#25 Colorado Buffalos at #14 Washington Huskies -15.5 All signs point to Washington dominating Colorado. Huskies are 7-3 in last 10 following an ATS loss. Colorado failed in their first try against a quality Pac-12 team in Week 7. Now, Buffalos must battle a team they’ve gone 0-8 ATS against in last 8. This one sets up for a Washington rout.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Washington -15.5
Mississippi State Bulldogs at #5 LSU Tigers -6.5 LSU dominated then #2 Georgia in Week 7. From what I saw, Georgia couldn’t stop the Tigers from scoring because they play so hard and fast in the first quarter. Mississippi State’s loaded with veterans who know how to pace themselves against high-scoring teams like LSU. Bulldogs are also 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings. I’m taking the points.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Mississippi State +6.5
Vanderbilt Commodores at #17 Kentucky Wildcats -11 Wildcats allow 13.4, ranking 4th in college football. Vanderbilt allows 25.9. Commodores should have trouble stopping Kentucky on the ground since they average 227.8. UK gets back on the ATS and SU winning track after the A&M loss.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Kentucky -11
#11 Oregon Ducks at #23 Washington State Cougars -3 Most handicappers like the Ducks, which makes sense because Oregon beat Washington in overtime in Week 7. But, Washington State is an incredible 6-0 ATS, 8-0 in their last 8 at home, and 8-0 in the last 8 against Oregon.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Washington State -3
#2 Ohio State Buckeyes -14 at Purdue Boilermakers The line seems light until we realize that the Buckeyes are 1-3 ATS in their last 4 and 0-3 ATS in their last 3. While Boilermakers average 33.5, they only allow 23.2. Buckeyes are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 and 2-5 ATS in the last 7 at Purdue. Boilermakers step it up versus conference foes, going 4-1 against the spread in their last 5. Like Purdue with a two-touchdown spread here.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Purdue +14
USC Trojans at Utah Utes -6.5 Trojans are on a mini streak after the 31-20 win over Colorado. Trojans allow 25.2 points, though, while Utah allows 16. USC’s 2-7-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games, 1-4 ATS versus a team with a winning record, and 5-15-1 ATS overall. Those are all reasons to back the Utes.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Utah -6.5

College Football Week 8 Picks: Oklahoma -7.5

College Football Week 8 Picks: NC State +16.5
#25 Colorado Buffalos at #14 Washington Huskies -15.5 All signs point to Washington dominating Colorado. Huskies are 7-3 in last 10 following an ATS loss. Colorado failed in their first try against a quality Pac-12 team in Week 7. Now, Buffalos must battle a team they’ve gone 0-8 ATS against in last 8. This one sets up for a Washington rout.
College Football Week 8 Picks: Washington -15.5
