Clemson opens as favorite to win 2021 national title

Trevor Lawrence returns for junior season
At this time next year, we’ll likely be talking about how Trevor Lawrence is a lock to go No. 1 in the NFL Draft. It feels like he’s been on that path since he showed up in orange and purple.
He has the gift of height, at 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds. He has a cannon for an arm. He can run. And he’s been able to learn and excel in big-game, pressure situations.
It’s difficult to imagine Clemson will experience any kind of a dropoff from its perch atop the ACC, especially with Lawrence behind center.
Can Ohio State take that next step?
The feeling of losing in the College Football Playoff semifinal to Clemson should motivate the Ohio State Buckeyes entering the 2020 regular season.
The Buckeyes have the second-lowest odds to win the national championship, at +350 on BetAmerica.

The lion’s share of the spotlight next season will be on Lawrence, but Justin Fields should command plenty of attention, too, during his junior year as Ohio State’s quarterback.
Fields was sensational as a sophomore. He threw for 3,273 yards, 41 touchdowns and just three interceptions—and two came in the semifinal loss to Clemson. He finished third in voting for the Heisman Trophy.
Expect Fields and Lawrence to battle neck-and-neck for the Heisman next season.
If Fields reaches the same level he did last season, expect the Buckeyes to again challenge for a national championship.
LSU Tigers bid farewell to Joe Burrow
Joe Burrow led the Tigers to a national championship, and he'll soon be off to the NFL. Considering the year he just put together, it would be an absolute shocker if he didn’t go first overall in the NFL Draft this spring, and all roads lead to the Cincinnati Bengals.

It’s difficult to lose a player of that talent and remain in college football's top tier. That could mean a step or two back for LSU next season. The Tigers have the fifth-lowest odds at +1200 at BetAmerica.
Can the Crimson Tide roar back?
It seemed inevitable that the Alabama Crimson Tide would be in the College Football Playoff, but that was not the case this past season.
They have the third best odds to win the national championship.
