Boxing picks: Charlo vs. Hogan and Eubanks vs. Koborov
Jermall Charlo will look to make a statement against Dennis Hogan, and Chris Eubanks Jr. will try to secure a world-title shot against the tough Matvey "Matt" Koborov on a quality boxing card Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Chris Eubank Jr. | -210 |
Matvey Korobov | +170 |
After he fell short of expectations in the World Boxing Super Series at super middleweight, Eubanks headed back down the scales for a tough out against Koborov. While Eubanks has an advantage in speed and athleticism, Koborov’s discipline and solid fundamentals are more along the lines of what has beaten Eubanks in previous fights against top-tier opponents.
Koborov is two fights removed from a near defeat of Charlo as a late substitute, and while he didn’t look good in an egregious draw he clearly won against Emmanuel Aleem, Koborov a fighter nobody looks forward to facing. A critical element here will be Koborov’s conditioning, as Eubanks is going to come at him with fast hands and constant movement, something that will spell doom if Koborov isn’t up for the task.
Eubanks needs to tighten up his defense and make sure all that flashy combination punching isn’t for show. Koborov can easily get on top of Eubanks and make it his kind of fight. We’ve seen Eubanks struggle mightily and lose to opponents who he can’t pin down.
It will be tight, but Koborov will score the minor upset with ring generalship and quality punches, as Eubanks frantically and ineffectively tries to drown him out with activity.

Jermall Charlo vs. Dennis Hogan odds

Hogan is getting this shot at Charlo based off a strong performance against the technically inept junior middleweight champion Jamie Munguia. But Hogan is really getting this shot so Charlo can make an eye-catching defense of his middleweight title.
Defeating Charlo requires awkwardness and movement, and Hogan is as conventional as they come. That means Charlo will have a target in front of him all night. With a lack of punching power, Charlo doesn’t have much to worry about in terms of getting caught by a big shot, but Hogan’s aim is to outwork the bigger Charlo and clinch when he is in range to throw of Charlo's rhythm.
Motivation is the X-factor for Charlo. It wouldn’t be surprising if Charlo looks flat or disinterested, as he goes through the motions against an opponent too small and too basic to trouble him. While this may seem calamitous, it is unlikely to produce an upset, because of the skill gap between the fighters.
While it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that Charlo will turn in a dud and win a labored, unwatchable decision, it's more likely he will lower the boom and get Hogan out of the ring in the ninth.
