Boxing: Jermell Charlo vs. Jorge Cota preview
Jermell Charlo will battle Jorge Cota in a 12-round bout in Las Vegas to headline a solid boxing Saturday.
Junior Middleweights
Brad Solomon 28-1-0 vs. Navid Mansouri 19-2-2, CBS
Solomon has bounced back nicely since he lost a split decision to Konstantin Ponomarev in 2016. He defeated David Bency via unanimous decision in 2017, and in 2018 beat Paddy Gallagher in a split decision. Although Solomon has won his last couple fights, the win versus Gallagher happened all the way back in April of last year. The layoff could cause Solomon issues against Mansouri, who has fought four times since June of 2018. He won three of the four, and even though he lost his last bout against Jorge Fortea, he should have an edge in fitness.
Junior Meatherweights
Guillermo Rigondeaux 18-1-0 vs. Julio Ceja 32-3-0
Rigondeaux had no shot against Vasyl Lomachenko back in 2017. Although it appeared Rigondeaux would retire after the loss, he decided to pick himself up and get back in the ring. His knockout win over Giovanni Delgado in January showed he is back to where he was before the embarrassing loss to Lomachenko.Ceja has a great record, but he's not nearly as skilled as Rigondeaux. This will be a fun fight to watch, but Rigondeaux should have the upper hand.
Junior Middleweights
Jermell Charlo 31-1-0 vs Jorge Cota 28-3-0
Charlo will attempt to get back on the winning track following a close loss to Tony Harrison in his last fight. That bout was extremely close, and many fight fans felt Charlo got the better of Harrison in December.Cota has claimed he will shock the world. More than likely he'll get shocked by a Charlo left hook or right cross.
