The 24-year-old Paul is fresh off a devastating knockout of former NBA star Nate Robinson on Nov. 28, 2020. Their bout ended early in the second round when Paul levelled Robinson with a vicious right hook that drove the former Slam Dunk champ facedown into the canvas. It was the punch that launched 1,000 memes, and it helped to legitimize Paul in the eyes of many pundits.
Askren, meanwhile, is a former Bellator and ONE Welterweight Champion who scored six KO wins in 22 MMA bouts from 2009 to 2019. The 36-year-old is also a two-time NCAA national champion freestyle wrestler who won gold at the Pan American Championships, U.S. National Championships, and World Championships.
Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren will take place on Sunday, April 17 at 9 p.m. ET at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and will feature special musical performances by Justin Bieber and Snoop Dogg.
